The London Company of Virginia Expands Equity Ownership to Additional Employees, Continuing Its Multi-Generational Planning

The London Company of Virginia (“The London Company”) recently completed a significant transition of equity to its employees.

As part of a long-term succession plan, the firm’s founder and majority owner, Stephen Goddard, and investment partner Lincoln Peak Capital both sold shares to employees of the firm. More than 10 senior level employees participated in the transaction. In total, 16 of The London Company’s 45 employees are now equity owners.

Steve Goddard remains the majority owner of the firm. “The London Company intends to continue to diversify its ownership among its employees while reducing the ownership of both myself and Lincoln Peak Capital,” said Mr. Goddard. “The creation of a multi-generational, sustainable firm has been a vision of mine for a long time. This is just another step in the process. The London Company team works hard every day to make the business successful and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.”

The London Company was founded in 1994 by Steve Goddard. He remained the sole owner of the firm until 2010 when the equity transition began with Jon Moody becoming the second employee owner. “In 2012, equity ownership was expanded among the employees, along with an outside investor, Lincoln Peak Capital,” said Mr. Goddard.
