Business Intelligence Analyst – Data Engineering & Analytics

The London Company is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to play a critical role in supporting multiple departments through big data, automation, AI, and advanced analytics. This position will focus on data engineering, ETL processes, analytics, and visualization to optimize workflows and enhance decision-making, process automation, and risk management across the firm.

The ideal candidate is technically skilled, highly analytical, interested in financial markets and investing, and passionate about leveraging data to drive business insights. Responsibilities

Data Engineering & ETL Processes:

  • Manage and optimize ETL pipelines to clean, process, and integrate data from multiple sources into the firm’s data warehouse.
  • Design and execute complex SQL queries to extract, clean, and structure large datasets.
  • Ensure data normalization and consistency across structured and unstructured datasets, maintaining high performance and availability.
  • Oversee data ingestion from external vendors and internal systems, ensuring seamless access to high-quality data.
  • Implement data governance, security, and validation processes to maintain data integrity.

Data Analytics & Visualization:

  • Design and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards that provide real-time insights across departments.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand their analytical needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Continuously improve data visualization standards, ensuring effective storytelling with data.
  • Enhance reporting capabilities by integrating advanced analytics.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and translate business needs into data-driven solutions.

Automation & Workflow Optimization:

  • Automate repetitive tasks such as data aggregation, reporting, and model updates to improve efficiency.
  • Develop scripts and tools to streamline data workflows, reducing manual interventions.
  • Enhance collaboration by integrating real-time data-sharing solutions across teams.

Risk Management & Business Intelligence:

  • Build tools that help identify and mitigate both known and unidentified risks within investment and operational workflows.
  • Monitor and track market trends, operational inefficiencies, and data inconsistencies to proactively address risk exposure.

Cross-Department Collaboration & Strategic Insights:

  • Serve as a data and analytics resource across departments, creating tailored solutions based on business needs.
  • Identify emerging trends, industry best practices, hidden opportunities, and inefficiencies, offering innovative data insights.
  • Work closely with business leaders to translate technical data into strategic business solutions.
  • Lead efforts within the firm’s data team to contribute to data governance best practices, query optimization, root cause analysis, and data validation projects.
  • Promote a positive, ethical, and compliance-focused firm culture, reinforcing core values in all aspects of work.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Economics or a related field.

  • 2-6 years of combined experience across data engineering, business intelligence, and/or data analytics, with exposure to both disciplines preferred. Experience in a financial or asset management setting is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of big data processing, ETL pipelines, and data warehouse architecture.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, automation, and analysis.

  • Experience or strong interest in Tableau for interactive reporting and dashboard creation.

  • Familiarity with US equity market structure and trade management systems is a plus.

  • Knowledge of relevant Python libraries for data manipulation, visualization, and automation.

  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex data challenges.

  • Passion for leveraging technology to enhance data-driven decision-making and automation.

  • Ability to independently brainstorm, design, and implement data-driven solutions aligned with business needs.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under deadlines.

  • High ethical standards with the ability to identify and improve workflow inefficiencies.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and pride in the quality of work produced.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity and a deep interest in investments, financial markets, and data analytics.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business insights.
